Over the last few weeks, IFF and Symrise have both launched flavor creation facilities targeting different segments. IFF's Food & Beverage Co-Creation Lab debuted in South Korea while Symrise's Naturals @SPark Facility launched in Singapore. See the facilities' details below.
In November 2023, IFF announced the opening of its first dedicated food and beverage lab in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea. The co-creation center is designed to reinforce the company’s commitment to Be the Premier Partner.
The center is said to support beverage, culinary, snack, and dairy manufacturers with greater speed-to-market through insights-led innovation. Manufacturers will have access to advanced lab technology, and the expertise and knowledge of IFF’s team of food designers. The center features dedicated customer co-creation design spaces and a dairy and beverage ultra-high temperature (UHT) pilot plant for small-scale product pilot testing. It also houses a professional culinary kitchen, where IFF’s team will develop savory seasoning solutions for instant noodles, snacks and local sauces.
Symrise Asia Pacific debuted the Enhanced Naturals @SPark facility in Singapore said to be dedicated to naturalness innovation. Housed within SPark, the multi-functional innovation and technology center is designed to address the move of the food and beverage industry towards sustainably sourced, natural and plant-based alternatives.
The purpose-built labs in the Enhanced Naturals @SPark focus on thermal treatments, extraction and biotransformation. The facility is said to enable sustainable, natural, and plant-based innovation across categories such as culinary, dairy and beverages. The facility also offers a co-development area to allow co-creation with customers.
