North American food ingredient company CIRANDA announced the launch of two new baking chips, each made with organic, plant-based materials. These chips are produced in an allergen-free facility and were designed to meet consumer demand for plant-based sweets with alternative sweeteners.
“We’re hearing more and more from customers who need reliable allergen control, so we’re proud to offer chocolate ingredients made in facilities that are free of the top nine US allergens,” said Mariah Sandkamp, director of marketing, innovation and product for CIRANDA. “These new chips give developers real flexibility to create indulgent products that are also inclusive and aligned with today’s clean-label and dietary expectations.”
The launch includes organic plant-based white chips and organic chocolate chips made with coconut sugar. The white chips contain 45% cocoa butter and are described as semi-sweet with notes of vanilla. This ingredient is made with organic cocoa butter sourced from smallholder farmers in Peru and refined in state-of-the-art facilities to ensure consistency.
The chocolate chips are available as 70% bittersweet chips and are crafted with organic cocoa beans from Peru. Further, by using coconut sugar, the company claims that the simple evaporation process preserves the natural nutrients and flavor complexity. CIRANDA also boasts a uniform sizing in its chocolate chips to ensure easy blending and a consistent melt.
Both baking chip varieties are organic, non-GMO, dairy-free and gluten-free.
