According to a recent Reuters report, Unilever plans to auction off its margarine and spreads business this fall.

The move is being made in an effort to unifying the structure of Unilever, while also providing greater flexibility for potential demergers. Unilever is currently working with Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs on the sale, which is estimated to be worth six billion pounds or $7.6 billion US dollars.

"If we are unable to achieve sufficient value in an outright sale, we do plan to demerge this business, and that might take a little bit longer," said Graeme Pitkethly, CFO of Unilever about the demerger.
