The Fragrance Science & Advocacy Council (FSAC), launched in March 2021 by Firmenich, Givaudan, IFF and Symrise, is a new trade association dedicated to the strategic development of responsible science-based public policy in response to the fast-evolving legislative and regulatory landscape in North America.

FSAC plans to foster strong collaboration with IFRA and other trade associations to align on regulatory topics that target the fragrance industry. FSAC will support the IFRA Code of Practice and require that all relevant members comply with the IFRA standards.

Following the IFRA board’s acceptance of FSAC’s application, IFRA chair Hans Holger Gliewe said, “We are happy to welcome FSAC to the IFRA family as our latest national association member. The North American market is a major source of materials and innovation for the fragrance industry, and we are happy to collaborate and coordinate representation, through FSAC and Fragrance Creators Association, of member companies based in North America.”

IFRA president Martina Bianchini added, “We look forward to working with the FSAC team and members, in coordination with Fragrance Creators Association, as we highlight our industry’s commitment to safe and sustainable use of fragrance materials.”

Shawn Blythe, FSAC chair and president, said, “We are eager to contribute to science-based advocacy in partnership with IFRA and other trade associations. FSAC is pleased to bring the expertise and experience of the leading global fragrance companies as we leverage our strength as an IFRA national association member.”
