dsm-firmenich has opened a new fine fragrance flagship in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, bringing approximately 100 employees, including nine fine fragrance perfumers, together in a 44,000-square-foot creative and technical hub.
"Few cities inspire creativity quite like New York," said Jonathan Simon, president of global fine fragrance. "With our new home in Chelsea, we are investing in an environment designed to bring together talent, inspiration and diverse perspectives. Rooted in one of the city's most dynamic creative neighborhoods, this space creates new opportunities for collaboration, dialogue and discovery, enabling our perfumers, clients and partners to shape the future of fine fragrance together."
"The opening of 641 Avenue of the Americas builds on dsm-firmenich's longstanding fine fragrance presence in New York," said Melanie Duhamel, vice president for fine fragrance, North America. "It is a new home not only for our teams, but also for our customers, bringing together perfumery expertise, scientific innovation, and collaboration in an environment that cultivates creation and a forward-thinking vision."
Located at 641 Avenue of the Americas, the facility combines perfumery, fragrance development, applications, digital capabilities and compounding under one roof. Its purpose-built laboratory features advanced automation and robotics, including Cerberus, a custom-built compounding robot capable of handling up to 456 raw materials, designed to expand creative output while improving efficiency, precision and safety.
The opening also marks the launch of Open Air: Artists in Resonance, a cultural platform pairing dsm-firmenich perfumers with New York voices across food, music, fashion, design and other disciplines, translating those collaborations into scent-led creative works.
The investment positions the new flagship as a space for closer client collaboration, cross-disciplinary inspiration and the intersection of perfumery, science and culture.
