At WPC 2026 in Monterrey, Padmini Aromatics launched our new (patent pending) ingredient Peaudiris. Peaudiris combines the elegance of orris with soft leather delivering exceptional volume, tenacity and depth to a fragrance. Peaudiris on the surface is very similar to Irone Alpha (CAS – 79-69-6) – they both share the same chemical structure. However, a careful manipulation of the isomers allows us to introduce leathery facets to what is typically expected from a structure associated with violet orris notes.
Finding a complex leathery ingredient has been a challenge for the industry. Irone Alpha is typically dominated by the Trans isomer which gives it its iconic radiant transparent floral character. A Cis dominated composition (Peaudiris), on the other hand exhibits leathery facets that complement the radiant powdery character typically associated with Irone Alpha. This violet leather profile allows perfumers to bring the rich radiance and depth of Irone Alpha to masculine fragrances.
At Padmini we designed Peaudiris from upcycled feedstocks, with more than 60% renewable carbon content (ISO 16128). The ingredient reflects the industry's growing focus on sustainable, high performance aroma chemicals. Our high performance ingredients, have at least a 50% or greater, renewable carbon number.
