Essential oils producer Zalabí, based in the Guadix region of Spain, has renewed its Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) verification at the Responsibly Sourced level, expanding its scope to cover 100% of its directly owned and managed production and securing the maximum three-year validity period.
The renewal follows an assessment against UEBT’s environmental, social and sourcing requirements, building on the company’s initial verification in 2024. The expanded scope encompasses Zalabí’s farms and key operational facilities, including its distillery, laboratory, warehouse and offices.
The result marks a big step in the development of the company’s vertically integrated sourcing model, which combines greater oversight of production with responsible agricultural practices and continuous improvement across its supply chain.

Founded in 2019, Zalabí produces natural essential oils from native Mediterranean plants grown regeneratively in southern Spain. The company aims to demonstrate how high-quality botanical ingredients can be produced alongside efforts to regenerate soils, restore ecosystems and support rural employment.
Its production approach also emphasizes clean-energy, zero-waste steam distillation, using solar power and circular systems to reduce resource waste and environmental impact.
By extending verification across its entire directly owned and managed production, Zalabí is strengthening its ability to demonstrate traceability and responsible practices at origin—priorities for flavor and fragrance manufacturers seeking reliable natural ingredients and greater transparency in their supply chains.
