Symrise is strengthening its premium natural fragrance ingredients business with the inauguration of a new Lautier 1795 production site in the Grasse region, bringing together sourcing, natural raw material transformation and fragrance expertise in one of perfumery’s most important hubs.
The investment builds on Symrise’s September 2026 acquisition of French premium naturals specialist Floral Concept, which now joins Lautier 1795 in a dedicated Naturals cluster in the Pays de Grasse. Floral Concept, founded in 2002, specializes in premium natural ingredients for fine fragrance, including extracts of jasmine, rose, orange blossom, ambrette and blackcurrant.
The expanded Grasse footprint combines Floral Concept’s sourcing relationships and transformation expertise with Lautier 1795’s longstanding heritage in natural fragrance materials.
The Lautier name traces its roots to Grasse in 1795 and grew from one of the region’s early fragrance ingredient businesses, with a history of processing natural raw materials and developing extraction technologies. Symrise revived the brand as part of an effort to build a portfolio of sustainable and innovative natural raw materials.
Symrise says the new site will connect local expertise with its global fragrance capabilities, including innovation, perfumery and customer solutions. Modern processing technologies are intended to support consistent quality, traceability and efficient transformation of natural raw materials, while closer collaboration among growers, sourcing partners, ingredient specialists, perfumers and customers could accelerate the development of new ingredients.
The Lautier 1795 strategy has historically centered on three areas: Madagascar, Artisan and High Tech. Symrise has highlighted its work with local supply chains, including backward integration in Madagascar, as well as partnerships with suppliers using handcrafted processing methods. Its SymTrap technology has also been used to create natural essences from side streams of vegetable production.
