Investing in the future of flavor science, Giract has opened applications for its 17th European Ph.D. in Flavor Research Awards, supporting emerging researchers and strengthening the industry’s talent pipeline across Europe.
Backed by a consortium of seven leading industry sponsors—Ajinomoto, Asahi Group Foods, Givaudan, Kerry Group, Lallemand Bio-Ingredients, Lesaffre and PepsiCo—the program aims to attract high-caliber scientists to flavor research while highlighting career opportunities within the global flavor industry.
The 2026/2027 edition will award six €3,000 bursaries to first-year Ph.D. students conducting research in flavor science, technology, chemistry and related fields. Winners will also have the opportunity to visit sponsor company R&D laboratories, gaining firsthand insight into industrial flavor innovation.
A €5,000 Best Ph.D. Thesis Award will also recognize an outstanding final-year doctoral researcher. The winner will present their work at the annual Savory Flavor & Food Industry Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, connecting with potential employers and industry leaders.
Organized by Giract in coordination with Andrea Cattaruzza, Director of AndCat Ltd., and Professor Emeritus Andy Taylor of the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, the program continues its mission of expanding the flavor research talent pool and bridging academia with industry.
