On July 10, 2025, The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) published the 2025 edition of its Transparency list, a comprehensive overview of over 3,000 ingredients used in fragrance creation. The list is intended to enhance consumer confidence, industry accountability and safety standards.
The IFRA Transparency List is compiled every four years using anonymously aggregated industry data. This year’s edition includes 3,312 fragrance ingredients (or substances used primarily for their odor properties or to mask malodor) and 379 functional ingredients (ingredients that contribute to fragrance stability and performance). Among the total, 1,021 are natural complex substances.
IFRA’s executive director Alexander Mohr noted that the publication of the Transparency List “serves as a foundational resource that not only enhances transparency but also promotes innovation, safety and regulatory compliance across the fragrance industry worldwide."
The IFRA Transparency List can be accessed online at the organization’s website.
