On February 4, 2025, flavor and fragrance company IFF announced the launch of ScentChat, an AI-powered instant messaging app. The app is intended to help enhance the fragrance creation process with the addition of real-time consumer feedback.

ScentChat allows research participants to interact with perfumers using existing messaging apps. The app leverages IFF’s proprietary AI algorithms to analyze the feedback and generate insight reports for formulators. The company also hopes that the app will foster a sense of community and collaboration with fragrance creators.

“ScentChat mirrors the dual nature of fragrance creation — combining human experience with technology to produce sensational results,” said Clotilde Raz, senior manager of global human and consumer insights for scent at IFF. “The app is a huge leap forward, making innovation more efficient, immersive and impactful. We’re already smelling unique, consumer-loved creations from our artists of perfumer, based on this exciting new resource!”
