2021 Sales: €1,506 million
Leaving a legacy in F&F has been a consistent theme for Mane throughout its 150 years in the industry. The last 12 months have been no different, the company has continued to make headlines with news of expansion in both real estate and in ingredient portfolios.
In terms of real estate, in January 2022, Mane announced the expansion of the company's Business Bay Fragrance Creation and R&D center facilities in Dubai, adding an additional 300 square meters to support the company's growth in the Middle Eastern region. The development center that houses testing and development facilities has also expanded with additional space and resources.
Due to open in 2023, its new R&D center in La Sarrée, France, will be a central hub for innovation, featuring pilot lines, test platforms and an extraction laboratory. It will also house Mane, a platform for start-ups and co-working.
An interest in diversifying its portfolios has led Mane to launch a natural aromatic ingredients portfolio including traditional ingredients such as extracts, essential oils and culinary preparations, as well as botanical water infusions, concentrated vegetable juices and "from the named fruit" extracts. More details on portfolio additions to come.
In this year’s Leaders & Newsmakers issue, Mane touches on the company’s expansion with recently debuted facilities around the globe, sustainability initiatives and more. Mane CEO, Jean Mane, takes the lead on speaking to the company’s strides, investments and goals in the pages ahead.
Jean M. Mane
CEO, Mane
2021 was both a remarkable and outstanding year for Mane.
Remarkable because we have crossed the year of our sesquicentennial anniversary, hence completing a significant milestone in our family mission to grow and transmit our eponymous business. A long time ago, I promised our teams around the world to celebrate our 150th anniversary in full independence and mastery of our destiny; as 2021 drew to an end, I was able to declare “mission accomplished” to our 7,500 professionals in 77 sites across 39 countries. Since the virus and its mutants have taken us hostage and continue to heckle us with periods of confinement and probation to this day, we were unfortunately not able to gather around for the celebrations we had initially envisaged. Our focus remained on keeping all our Mane team members safe and healthy, hence leading us to invent a new way of celebrating our anniversary through our group-wide online “Moving Day” event, in the same way that the pandemic has accelerated the transformation of the workplace to become more digital and to create new ways to engage with our customers.
Outstanding because we have delivered a very solid business performance in 2021 by posting sales of e1,506 million ($1,781 million), up 9.4% from 2020. The considerable surge in sales fully comes from organic growth, which confirms Mane’s position as a successful leader able to post significantly increased figures by continuing to do what we do well: service our customers with a world class portfolio of technology enabled products and solutions based on sustainably sourced and processed ingredients that add value to our customers’ products and bring delight to consumers.
I want to thank all our collaborators again this year for all that we accomplished in 2021 and for their continued resilience, their positive attitude and hard work throughout two years of worldwide pandemic, as well as our enlarged stakeholders and partners along the value chain for their trust, which have enabled us to reach this significant milestone.
