For centuries, a multitude of plants have been used to compose perfumes, though over time, some of them have been forgotten along the way. Today, these forgotten perfumery plants represent an intriguing source of innovation in the development of natural raw materials used for perfumery. L’Occitane en Provence has engaged in a creative R&D approach alongside the Chemistry Institute of Nice, France, and the International Perfume Museum in Grasse that not only revives precious historical heritage but offers new insight into the link between ingredient sourcing and biodiversity regeneration.
