
Givaudan has expanded its fragrance precursor portfolio with Scentaurus Aquamelon, a new oxygen-activated technology the company says is the first fragrance precursor developed specifically for hair care. Designed to meet growing demand for longer-lasting scent performance, the ingredient gradually releases a watery green melon, floral muguet, green fruity and orange blossom accord when exposed to oxygen, delivering freshness that extends for several days after use.
The launch highlights the increasing importance of fragrance delivery technologies that enhance deposition and prolong scent in rinse-off products, giving perfumers new opportunities to create fresh, clean fragrance signatures in shampoos and other hair care formulations. Although developed for personal care, Givaudan says the precursor also performs strongly in fabric care applications, broadening its potential across fragrance categories.
With consumers increasingly expecting hair care products to deliver all-day—and even multi-day—freshness, Scentaurus Aquamelon underscores the industry's move beyond traditional fragrance ingredients toward smart delivery systems that release scent when triggered by everyday environmental conditions.
