Perfumer & Flavorist+, in cooperation with the British Society of Perfumers (BSP), is developing a new fragrance-focused sensory panel inspired by the publication's existing flavor ingredient evaluation series.

The semi-regular column, coming in 2027, will bring together a select group of perfumers associated with the British Society of Perfumers (BSP) to evaluate a curated selection of fragrance ingredients, offering their individual scent impressions and creative perspectives.

Panelists will assess each material at one or more concentrations to capture how its character evolves from the initial olfactive impact through its development and lasting impression.

As with our flavorist panels, these fragrance evaluations will go beyond conventional odor descriptions to examine the creative possibilities of each ingredient, including its potential applications in fine fragrance, personal care, home care and other scent-driven categories.

By combining technical observation with the artistic perspective of experienced fragrance creators, the series aims to provide readers with a deeper understanding of the materials that shape contemporary perfumery, while showcasing the expertise and diversity of the BSP community.
