Sol de Janeiro’s Cheirosa 62 Perfume Mist has claimed the No. 1 spot in the U.K. fragrance market for 2026, outselling every designer eau de parfum, according to new internal sales data from beauty retailer LookFantastic. The results point to shifting consumer preferences around fragrance formats, brand loyalty, bottle sizes and scent positioning, with implications for fragrance houses and product developers heading into 2027.

Its pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla profile also underscores continued consumer appetite for warm, gourmand scent profiles.

Yves Saint Laurent, meanwhile, dominated the top 10, accounting for six entries across Libre, Black Opium and MYSLF. Libre appeared three times, while Black Opium secured two positions, including the chart’s fastest-growing fragrance.

Black Opium’s comeback was particularly striking: sales of the 90 ml eau de parfum surged 309% year over year, while the 30 ml grew 85%. The performance suggests an opportunity for brands to reactivate established fragrances through renewed consumer engagement, while demonstrating that legacy launches can retain or regain relevance with new generations.

Bottle-size performance offers another notable signal. Libre’s 50 ml and 90 ml formats grew 12% and 11%, respectively, while its 30 ml declined 14%. Black Opium’s 90 ml growth also substantially outpaced its smaller counterpart. The trend points to consumers increasingly investing in larger formats once they establish a fragrance preference, creating opportunities for brands to optimize size portfolios and encourage replenishment.

Outside YSL, Tom Ford Ombre Leather Eau de Parfum 100 ml grew 24%, ranking third overall. Its performance, alongside YSL MYSLF’s 9% growth, highlights continued momentum for fragrances that cross traditional gender boundaries. MYSLF’s orange blossom-centered profile also reinforces the expanding role of floral notes in men's fragrance.

Other chart movements included Kylie Jenner’s Cosmic Eau de Parfum, which remained essentially flat year over year (-0.3%), while Prada Paradoxe declined 15%.

Implications for brands and formulators

The results suggest several opportunities for fragrance development and portfolio strategy:

  • Expand beyond traditional fine fragrance: Body mists are competing directly with designer eau de parfums, reinforcing the value of accessible formats designed for layering, frequent application and everyday use.
  • Revisit successful fragrance franchises: Black Opium’s resurgence demonstrates the potential of established scent identities to reconnect with consumers, particularly when supported by renewed marketing and cultural relevance.
  • Design for format flexibility: Diverging performance across bottle sizes suggests brands should evaluate size-specific demand rather than assume smaller formats will always lead purchases.
  • Continue challenging gender conventions: Growth in Ombre Leather and MYSLF supports scent development built around olfactive appeal rather than rigid masculine and feminine positioning.
  • Maintain gourmand and floral innovation: Cheirosa 62’s gourmand profile and MYSLF’s floral direction illustrate the continued commercial relevance of these contrasting olfactive territories.

The rankings reflect LookFantastic's internal U.K. sales data for 2026 to date, rather than the entire U.K. fragrance market.
