Japan OKs Two Flavor Materials

The Japan Flavor and Fragrance Materials Association (JFFMA) has reported that, on Dec. 27, 2011, the Japanese Ministry of Health Labor and Welfare designated two flavor materials, meaning these materials are now legally able to be used in Japan.

The materials are:

  • Isoquinoline (FEMA# 2978, CAS# 119-65-3, JECFA# 1303)
  • Pyrrole (FEMA# 3386, CAS# 109-97-7, JECFA# 1314)

The designation process for these materials is now underway.
