Flavor Producers, LLC. is currently looking for a Junior Flavor Chemist to join its team.
The Junior Flavor Chemist is primarily responsible for building technical credibility with internal and external customers with project interaction and successful flavor solutions, assisting in prototype formulations, flavor application interactions and flavor creation. As the Junior Flavor Chemist progresses through the program, he or she will be responsible for independently leading customer projects.
This position will ensure timely and accurate support to the R&D Group needs along with providing necessary detailed information to allow for meeting the customer's needs daily. Due to the high volume of requests and FP's customer centric culture this position requires urgency, flexibility, and responsiveness.
The Junior Flavor Chemist will interact with Customers, Applications, Marketing, Sales Account Executives, Research and Innovation, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Product Safety & Quality, Sensory, and Manufacturing, as well as other Business Unit Groups, to achieve FP’s Business Goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work with certified flavorist as "flavorist in training" learning all facets of the SFC syllabus for certification.
- Formulates flavors for customers under the supervision of Certified Flavorist.
- Works with analytical team in understanding and interpreting reports and chromatograms.
- Exhibits a clear understanding of solubility, order of addition, reactions, organic chemistry, library of GRAS ingredients, extraction techniques, technologies, mathematics and formulation.
- Understands flavor regulations
- Assist and/or take lead with revisions and commercialization of formulas

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 7 years’ experience.
Apprentice Certified: Required
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Other Skills and Abilities
An understanding of GC-MS and HPLC fundamentals from a theory of operation perspective. An advance sense of taste and smell and ability to describe taste/smell in a detailed manner. Handling toxic/caustic chemicals in testing raw materials. PPE is provided in the form of lab coats, safety glasses, gloves, and respirators.
