Loren H. Michael, passed away on November 16, 2024 in South Carolina, next to his beloved wife, Florentina Cimpian, and surrounded by loving friends.
Loren was born on April 21, 1947 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he graduated from Washington Senior High School. He moved to New Jersey in 1965, studied chemistry at Monmouth College and embarked on a 50-year-long career in the fragrance and flavor industry. He proved himself as a chemist and a sales executive, first and longest at IFF, then Quest International, Polarome and Chemlumina. He retired in 2019.
A consummate professional, Loren prided himself on finding opportunities, bridging differences and connecting people around the world. He was valued and respected for his knowledge and insights, both technical and personal.Loren is survived by family who cherished him and to whom he was devoted: his wife, daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, grandson, sister, step-son and step-granddaughter, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He loved to recount his many travels, on all 7 continents, 60 countries and all 50 US states. He was a jokester and a story-teller. He loved cars, single-malt whiskies and prime steaks. He made friends throughout the world during his long career, always keeping in touch, visiting and sharing memories.
