dsm-firmenich announced its upcoming participation in Expo 2025, a world expo in Osaka, Japan, from April 13 to October 13. The company has created unique fragrances for the Swiss and Dutch Pavilions.

Expo 2025 is a global exposition intended to bring together people and innovations from around the world in an effort to address issues at a worldwide scale. The theme for 2025 is “Designing a Future Society for Our Lives” and features new technologies and products that will shape the future.

dsm-firmenich will have a presence in both the Swiss Pavilion and Dutch Pavilion with two bespoke fragrances from its master perfumers. Perfumers Coralie Spicher and Wessel-Jan Kos used inspiration from their respective countries to develop their scents.

“Switzerland, my childhood country, has always been my olfactive playground and has given me my deepest olfactive memories,” Spicher shared. “I grew up between the mountains and the lakes, feeling the duality of the pure air, contrasted with the warmth and comforting smells of the soil, woods, rocks and flowers. It is really a great honor to represent my beloved Switzerland and share it with the world in Osaka.”

Kos added, “I was inspired by the first Dutch traders who were allowed to enter Japan centuries ago. It was a very isolated country back then, and I wondered how that must have been — the different culture, language and rituals. I wondered what they would trade, and this made me think of tea, the main theme of the New Dawn fragrance.”
