On January 23, 2025, North American flavor producer FlavorSum announced the expansion of its portfolio to include flavors with modulating properties (FMPs).
FMPs are designed to help address specific taste challenges in food and beverage applications, such as masking bitterness, enhancing mouthfeel, and mitigating off-notes. FlavorSum Modulate incudes ingredients for alcohol, bakery, beverage, cannabis, dairy and non-dairy applications.
“Our flavorists understand the complexity of product development, especially as interest in functional and low-sugar foods and beverages continues to grow,” said Ibrahima Faye, director of flavor development R&D at FlavorSum. “The FlavorSum Modulate portfolio fits with many applications, helping brands deliver desired taste profiles while aligning with label goals.”
In addition to the expanded portfolio, FlavorSum also introduced three new web resources to provide trends and insights into the role of FMPs in the formulation process. Through these resources, product developers can research which solutions would be best for their product and request samples.
“We continue to focus on providing solutions that help address customers’ formulation challenges,” said chief commercial officer Dave Franz. “FlavorSum Modulate provides our team with tools to appropriately optimize food and beverage taste experiences, working in collaboration with our customers.”
