Earlier this year, the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) announced that, in the course of random product testing as part of its compliance program, it had identified a fragrance containing a prohibited material. Upon further review, IFRA has determined that the "fragrance containing the material in question was supplied before the material was banned under IFRA Standards, and discontinued thereafter." This is in full compliance with the IFRA Code of Practice.
Of the news, IFRA's director general Jean-Pierre Houri said, “I am pleased that we have established that the fragrance house strictly adhered to the IFRA Standards. This incident demonstrates that the IFRA Compliance Program is robust and effective ensuring that IFRA Standards are adhered to worldwide and that consumers can continue to enjoy the safe use of fragrances.”
