During a ceremony on May 9, 2019, Firmenich master perfumer Alberto Morillas received a lifetime achievement award from the German Fragrance Foundation for his almost 50-year career in perfume.
"Alberto Morillas is undoubtedly one of the world's key protagonists in the perfume industry. For decades he has created milestones of perfume art, in which, again and again, tradition and innovation unite for new fragrance experiences,” said Martin Ruppmann, managing director of the German Fragrance Foundation.

Starting his career first at the School of Beaux Arts in Geneva, Morillas then quickly joined Firmenich in 1970 at the age of 20. During his career with Firmenich, Alberto went on to create such iconic fragrance as Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio, Calvin Klein CK One, Flower by Kenzo, Estée Lauder Pleasures, Marc Jacobs Daisy, Bulgari Goldea and Gucci Bloom. In addition to this award, he also received Perfumer of the Year in France by Cosmetique Mag in 2013, le Prix François Coty Best Perfumer in 2003, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the US Fragrance Foundation in 2013 and the “Prix d’honneur for outstanding achievements” award from the Austrian Fragrance Foundation.
“Alberto is one of the greatest perfumers in the world,” explained Armand de Villoutreys, president of perfumery and ingredients for Firmenich. “His artistry has both shaped and left an indelible mark on the global perfumery landscape, having created some of the world’s most successful and iconic fragrances.”
