The global botanical flavors market is expected to grow from $9 billion to $20.5 billion from 2025 to 2035, according to a new report  from Future Market Insights. This reflects a compound annual growth rate of 8.6% over the forecast period, largely driven by rising consumer interest in natural and organic foods and rising awareness of functional foods.

“The market holds a significant share across various sectors, driven by increasing demand for natural, clean-label and functional ingredients in food, beverages, supplements and personal care products,” the report states. “Botanical flavors are widely valued for their bioactive properties, sensory enhancement and formulation versatility, making them essential in health-focused and premium offers. The market contributes substantially to natural flavor solutions and specialty ingredient portfolios, especially in products promoting wellness benefits, such as immunity, relaxation and digestive health.”

The market is segmented by extraction source, form, application and region. In terms of extraction, fruits are the most common source for botanical flavors with 42% of the market share. This dominance is largely due to the rich nutrient profiles in fruits. Further, consumer preferences for citrus, berry and tropical notes have increased, strengthening the appeal of fruit-based botanical flavors. Other botanical sources include seeds and leaves, which are gaining steady traction in the market.

China leads with the highest CAGR over the forecast period, with a growth of 7.9% predicted. This is driven by expanding production capacity and growing health-conscious demand among Chinese consumers. The United States follows at 7.5%.

Powder botanical flavors are the most common form, with 36% of the market share in 2025. Powders are preferred by many manufacturers for their stability, ease of transportation and extended shelf life. Powders are used in multiple sectors, including nutritional beverages, bakery mixes, dietary supplements and instant foods. Liquid flavors are used more in cosmetics and tinctures.

The report  concludes that technological advancements in botanical extraction and encapsulation will help bolster the market over the forecast period. These flavors can help meet consumer demands and promote transparency in sourcing and production.
