On March 5, 2025, The Spanish Association of Fragrances and Flavors (AEFAA) held its “Future Challenges” meeting in Barcelona to bring together key stakeholders in the flavor and fragrance industries. This meeting included a panel of experts and an open discussion of the biggest issues facing the industry.

The all-female panel of experts included Aurélie Perrichet, regional director of Europe of IFRA; Belén Carazo, scientific-technical director of Stanpa (National Association of Perfumery and Cosmetics), Irene Belinchón, director of chemical products management of FEIQUE (Business Federation of the Spanish Chemical Industry) and Jimena Gómez de la Flor, Communications and Public Affairs Director of EFFA (European Flavour Association).

“The next five years will be more balanced to find a middle ground between sustainability and competitiveness,” said Aurélie Perrichet. “It is an opportunity to be very actively involved with our authorities and with the European Commission.”

Among the topics discussed at the meeting were changing regulatory landscapes, increased emphasis on carbon footprint and digital transformation in the industry. This included case studies and specific examples of how companies are addressing these issues. Participants shared their insights in order to ensure a strong future for the F&F sector.

Without flavors and fragrances, consumers do not have a positive perception of products,” said Germán Castillo, executive director of AEFAA.
