Fragrance Creators Association (FCA) has launched FragranceConservatory.com to help people make informed choices about the scented products they use every day.

The first of its kind consumer resource provides information about fragrance ingredients and the fragrance industry, including fragrance history, perfumery, safety guidelines and fragrance benefits.

“The Fragrance Conservatory illuminates the power of fragrance and its ability to enhance lives, bring people together, and help drive positive, sustainable change for people and the planet,” said FCA president & CEO Farah K. Ahmed. “Now, for the first time, the fragrance industry is sharing its story to help consumers better understand the crucial role fragrance plays in our emotions, our memories, our relationships and our everyday lives.”

The Fragrance Conservatory allows users to search ingredients to understand their chemical makeup and safety profiles, to learn about the history and science behind making a fragrance, to discover positive benefits of fragrance and to follow the fragrance industry’s efforts to promote public health.

“Because Fragrance Creators Association is a modern, open-minded, and forward-thinking organization, we prioritize listening,” said Ahmed. “We believe people should be empowered with the information they need to feel confident about the products they use. Thus, at a time of growing public interest in fragrance and fragrance ingredients, we heard the call and created The Fragrance Conservatory. The website is part of our ongoing commitment to educating the public about fragrance safety and important wellness benefits of fragrance.”

“The Fragrance Conservatory illuminates the power of fragrance and its ability to enhance lives, bring people together, and help drive positive, sustainable change for people and the planet,” said FCA president & CEO Farah K. Ahmed.

The website offers users credible, contextualized and sound science-based information about the fragrance industry and a wide variety of fragrance ingredients. It provides a deep dive into some of the ingredients that are used to make fragrances as well as guidance on how to evaluate and understand the science and safety behind fragrance.

“Through the development of the website, we have experienced first-hand the power of our membership – a wide variety of experts coming together, volunteering their time and expertise, to create something positive for the public. Because it was built by our members, it is authentic and reflects the nature of the fragrance industry – creative, thoughtful, responsible, and innovative.”

Ahmed continued: “When it comes to the user experience, The Fragrance Conservatory is an immersive environment – making learning interesting through highly creative and innovative design technology. The user can explore as well as easily and quickly find information that is credible and contextualized.”

Cultivated by a coalition of dedicated FCA members, including Arylessence, Bedoukian Research, Bell Flavors & Fragrances, Chanel, Citrus & Allied Essences, The Clorox Company, Estee Lauder Companies, Firmenich, IFF, Johnson & Johnson, The Lermond Company, Modere, Procter & Gamble, Revlon, Robertet USA, SC Johnson, and Takasago International Corporation (USA), The Fragrance Conservatory will be scaled to include more ingredients and topics of relevance to users all over the world over the coming years.

“This is just our first step, and we are now actively in listening mode before embarking on further growing the site. We’re eager to hear feedback from diverse perspectives on what is most meaningful about the site and how we can improve and expand it,” said Ahmed.

“The Fragrance Conservatory was built to be an ever-evolving resource for the public to have access to science-backed information about the fragrance ingredients they come across in their everyday lives. The Fragrance Conservatory will grow to feature more ingredient stories and more content in 2020 and beyond. It will continue to be updated with the latest fragrance information so everyone can stay well-informed about fragrance ingredients and the industry in general.”
