The PPA signed with Ørsted will contribute to the financing of a solar energy facility in Texas. This will provide an additional renewable electricity capacity of approximately 920,000 MWh for the U.S. energy grid each year, equivalent to the needs of 100,000 homes, of which DSM will utilize a portion.

As a result, DSM will reduce its CO₂ emissions by approximately 50,000 tons/year. It is DSM’s third such PPA in North America, following a wind power agreement with NextEra Energy Resources in 2017 and a solar power agreement with Origis Energy in 2020.

DSM plans to source 75% of its global electricity needs from renewable resources by 2030 and decrease its scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions between 2016 and 2030.
