On July 16, 2025, the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) announced the addition of two leaders to its team: Emily Trentacope, PhD, as vice president of sustainability and Garret Boston, PMP, as senior project manager of strategic initiatives.

Emily Trentacope most recently worked for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research & Development as an associate national program director for safe and sustainable water sources. Her career includes 11 years in the federal space. She holds a bachelors degree in biological sciences from Dartmouth College and both a masters degree in marine biology and PhD in oceanography from Scripps Institute of Oceanography.

In her new role, Trentacope will set the strategic direction for ACI’s sustainability initiatives and work with member companies to shape the industry’s vision for environmental stewardship and responsible innovation.

“Through bold thinking, collaborative leadership and deep subject matter expertise, Emily will help deliver measurable progress while upholding ACI’s high standard for environmental and social responsibility,” said co-interim chief executive officer Korie Traver. “She will guide the vision for industry sustainability success on emerging issues, innovation opportunities and systemic sustainability shifts.”

Garret Boston is a United States Army veteran and most recently served as a senior product manager for the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health. His background includes a bachelors degree in public administration from the University of Phoenix and a master’s certificate in project management from George Washington University. With ACI, Boston will oversee project execution, manage timelines and seek opportunities to optimize the organization’s efforts.

“Garret’s ability to understand and implement project management methodologies will help ACI foster even more collaboration and optimization and help deliver high-impact results in a dynamic and evolving landscape,” Traver said.
