European Commission Bans Musk Xylene

The European Commission has announced a decision to ban the fragrance material musk xylene under REACH. This brings EU regulations in line with the global standards set up by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA). IFRA banned this ingredient as part of the fragrance industry’s self-regulatory program due to musk xylene's potentially damaging effects on the environment.
