FEMA Posts Interim GRAS List

The Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association (FEMA) has posted an interim GRAS list for two materials: 4-amino-5,6-dimethylthieno[2,3-D]pyrimidin-2(1H)-one (FEMA# 4669) and 2-methyl-4,5-dihydrofuran-3-thiol (FEMA# 4683). These materials will be included in GRAS 25. According to FEMA, the organization provides an opportunity for GRAS applicants to publish their new flavor ingredient FEMA GRAS identity on the organization's site within 60 days of the Expert Panel evaluation.
