On May 28, 2025, Spray-Tek announced the granting of its fourteenth U.S. patent for its plant-based food delivery system.
The patented system uses a blend of plant-derived ingredients (wax, fat, surfactant) to create encapsulated particles for aroma and flavor delivery. These particles, flavor oil-containing pastilles and prills, deliver targeted flavor release depending on the formulation. Further, this technology can be used across multiple product categories and formulations.
“Receiving our 14th U.S. patent marks another important milestone for Spray-Tek and reinforces our leadership in encapsulation,” said chief executive officer Ray Rambowski. “This innovation equips our partners with plant-based, functional flavor delivery systems that are cleaner, more stable and engineered for next-generation formulations. It’s a testament to our team’s continued focus on solving real formulation challenges through practical patent-backed solutions - while advancing sustainability and strengthening our competitive edge.”
Chief technology officer Jiten Dihora added, “This patent captures the intersection of four key attributes that define the ideal consumer experience. Aroma of the flavor during cooking, flavor during consumption, homogeneity of the flavor throughout the final product and the use of plant-based materials.”
