JFFMA Approves New Flavor Agents

The Japan Flavor & Fragrance Materials Association (JFFMA) has approved two new synthetic flavor agents. These agents, which are only allowed to be used as food additives when designated by the country’s Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare, include 2,6-dimethylpyridine and 5-ethyl-2-methylpyridine.

In December 2010, the JFFMA also approved piperidine and pyrrolidine as synthetic flavor agents.
