FlavorSum is accelerating its acquisition strategy with the purchase of S&S Flavors, a California-based developer and manufacturer of custom flavor systems with nearly 100 years of expertise. The deal establishes FlavorSum's new West Coast Innovation Center in Brea, California, expands its North American manufacturing footprint and adds powdered flavor capabilities to complement its existing strengths in beverages, bakery, dairy, sports nutrition, gummies and better-for-you applications.
The acquisition follows FlavorSum's June purchase of Beverage Flavors International (BFI), which expanded the company's turnkey beverage flavor base and sweetener capabilities while strengthening its position in beverage systems. Together, the two transactions signal a strategy to broaden technical expertise, geographic reach and application capabilities as the company competes for fast-growing food and beverage brands.
"The addition of S&S Flavors is another important step in executing our vision for FlavorSum," said Brian Briggs, chief executive officer of FlavorSum. "Their reputation for technical excellence, expertise in powdered flavor systems and strong West Coast presence significantly strengthen our ability to serve customers across North America."
The Brea facility will serve as FlavorSum's West Coast Innovation Center, offering flavor creation, collaborative product development, applications expertise and both liquid and powdered flavor manufacturing. The site complements the company's existing innovation centers and manufacturing operations across the Midwest, East Coast and Canada.
"Since 1928, S&S Flavors has helped customers create products that stand out through great taste, reliable performance and trusted partnerships," said Curtis Krystek, vice president of S&S Flavors. "Joining FlavorSum allows us to preserve the relationships our customers rely on while giving them additional resources, technical expertise and an expanded flavor portfolio."
Customers of both companies will continue working with their existing contacts while gaining access to FlavorSum's expanded network and technical capabilities. Operations at the Brea facility will continue uninterrupted, with the existing S&S Flavors team remaining in place.
