The Future of Frankincense is a three day virtual workshop that will take place on March 15, March 17 and March 18, 2021 from 1 p.m to 4 p.m. GMT.

The free event is hosted by the Global Frankincense Alliance and focuses on three questions: "What do we need to know?" "What do we need to do?" "What most needs to happen next?"

It will look at actions that need to be taken to support the long-term future of frankincense trees and the communities that harvest them. 

The workshop will be structured around four themes:

  1. Botany, identification and current status of the trees 

  2. Communities, regeneration and forest management

  3. Biochemistry and medicinal applications

  4. Supply chains, products, regulations and trade 

The outcomes, plenary recordings and report of the workshop will be posted online and will be presented at the next International Conference on Frankincense and Medical Plants in Oman November, 2021.
