Hasbro has announced that it has successfully trademarked the scent of its Play-Doh brand.

The Play-Doh brand was first introduced in 1956 and since then the compounds used in it have remained largely unchanged, securing its iconic scent. According to the company, the scent is described as being a combination of sweet, slightly musky and vanilla-like, with a slight overtone of cherry and a natural smell of salted, wheat dough.

“The scent of Play-Doh compound has always been synonymous with childhood and fun,” said Jonathan Berkowitz, senior vice president of global marketing for the Play-Doh brand. “By officially trademarking the iconic scent, we are able to protect an invaluable point of connection between the brand and fans for years to come.”
