Creative Buyer, Lush
Location: Poole, UK Description: Salary £25k-£30k per annum DOE plus bonus
An opportunity to join the UK buying team specializing in the buying of essential oils, absolutes and aroma chemicals; sourcing pure, quality ingredients while keeping a close eye on costs. The employee will work collaboratively with the fragrances production team and product inventors.

- Responsible for part of the company spend on essential oils, absolutes and aroma chemicals under the supervision of an experienced essential oils buyer.
- Visit production facilities to understand growing, harvesting and processing; create and forge good working relationships by being yourself with an innate ability to understand cultures and behaviors.
- Visit suppliers to make new contacts and sourcing new materials to bring back inspiration and new ideas to the teams.
- Ensure the quality and purity of raw materials and negotiate costs in a fair and ethical manner.
- Negotiate lead times, providing information to the forecasting and systems teams to get items set up on the system.
- Manage an expanding portfolio of suppliers, ensuring cost savings and improving efficiencies by renegotiating costs.
- Ensure the continual growth of a supplier data base – identifying new potential suppliers and understand their capacities.
- Work with suppliers and Lush teams to create time lines for new launches, project manage the items to ensure everything is delivered in a timely manner and clearly communicate changes to time lines to all involved.
- Compiling monthly buying reports against savings and targets.
Candidates need to have:
- A true passion for essential oil buying with at least two years experience coupled with a real understanding of Lush's company ethics, campaigns and SLUSH fund.
- Analytical and creative thinker, with ability to support SLUSH funded projects, so an interest and understanding of permaculture principles and practices would be advantageous.
- Demonstrable experience in how you can influence and negotiate.
- Self-starter with a proactive nature and want to take ownership of projects with a drive to learn and succeed.
