Spanish Marjoram Oil The origin of the commercially available Spanish marjoram oil is Thymus mastichina L. ssp. mastichina, while the marjoram oil of commerce is obtained from Origanum majorana L. According to Miralles (1998), the annual production of Spanish marjoram oil in Spain is between 20 and 30 tonnes.
Salgueiro et al. (1992) compared the composition of oils of T. mastichina obtained from plants collected throughout Portugal. The analytical results obtained in this study are shown in Table I.
