A new addition to P&F+’s Leaders and Newsmakers issue is BASF. The chemical producing company joins the ranks due to its strides in sustainable solutions and product innovations.
Supporting the company’s sustainability practices is the focus to reduce the company’s product carbon footprint with biodegradable aroma ingredients, promoting transparency for customers with the upcoming launch of the BASF Virtual Aroma Assistants later this year. The company also continues to work towards net zero emission by 2050 with the implementation of backward integration into renewable energies.
Regarding product innovation, the biomass balance approach results in a BMB product with an identical chemical and olfactory product quality and performance as the fossil product. As for accolades, an independent certification confirms that BASF has replaced the required quantities of fossil resources for the biomass balance product with renewable feedstock.
P&F+ connects with Steffen Goetz, vice president of global sales and business management to get the details on future goals and recent wins of the company.

What were your company’s biggest business accomplishments in the last year?
Our biggest achievement as a team is that we succeeded to maintain the highest supply reliability and world-class quality for our customers in a continually challenging environment. We enabled the strong growth of our customers despite widespread supply chain bottlenecks, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and increasingly higher energy and raw materials costs.
We also heavily invested in building our future. We continued on our path toward sustainability transformation through process and product innovations and the courage to think in new directions. We put our customers’ demand for sustainable solutions at the core of our activities. A crucial part of our sustainability transformation is the broad offering of our product portfolio based on renewable feedstock through biomass balance (BMB). We are now able to offer almost all of our products based on mass-balanced, renewable raw materials.
