Perfume and flavor company Firmenich has announced its signing of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact Action Platform for Decent Work in Global Supply Chains.
The company’s signature formalizes its public commitment to decent work across its global supply chains and builds upon its Human Rights Policy, Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and Social Accountability Standards. Such standards require full compliance with national laws, International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions and the UN’s guiding principles on business and human rights.
Firmenich, which is one of the world’s 36 UN Lead companies and actively advances the UN's Ten Principles, responsibly sources over 170 natural ingredient varieties across 40 countries. This includes responsibly sourced vanilla in Madagascar and jasmin in India. The company positively impacts 250,000 smallholder farmers and their communities as it invests in sustainable livelihoods.
As a UN Lead company, Firmenich is recognized as an advocate of the UN's Principles and Sustainable Development Goals. Firmenich is putting its innovation to work by addressing societal challenges, like nutrition and sanitation. This year the company removed 1 trillion calories from a range of food/beverage products.
