Helping to support engineering microbes it creates to spec for customers across F&F markets including nutrition, health and consumer goods, Ginkgo Bioworks (Boston) has raised $9 million in a Series A round from Felicis Ventures, OS Fund, Data Collective, iGlobe Partners and Vast Ventures.
The biotech company used the new investment round to complete the construction of Bioworks1, which is a 18,000-square-foot, automated organism engineering lab that uses robotics and advanced software. Ginko Bioworks has already begun the design of its Bioworks2 lab, which is slated for construction in early 2017.
