Symrise Holds Second Scent Expedition

Symrise (Holzminden, Germany) is holding its second scent expedition, this time to seek out new scents in China. Taking place from May 23–31, a collection of some of the company’s top international perfumers will visit the Yunnan and Jiangxi provinces to experience different smells, tastes and sights.

The expedition begins in Kunming, and then travels to Yuanjiang, Luliang, and Jinxi. The group will visit fresh flower markets, tuberose, jasmine and gardenia fields, orris plantations, bamboo forests, tea factories, and raw material processing plants, among others. Additionally, following the scent expedition, there will be a closing ceremony in Shanghai on May 31, where guests will have the opportunity to hear from the perfumers about their experiences on the expedition.

The trip to China is part of the Symrise Perfumers’ Academy, which aims to provide continuing education to the company’s perfumers. The objective is to provide experience and inspiration to each through all stages of their career, by way of various inspirational programs. In 2007, Symrise organized a first scent expedition to India.
