Singapore-based FP Aromatics, one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of sandalwood oil and a supplier of more than 50 natural oils, has become an official member of the Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT), joining a globally recognized group committed to responsible sourcing from biodiversity. The move places FP Aromatics on the UEBT members directory and reportedly signals deeper alignment with international standards around conservation, fair benefit-sharing and respect for people and nature.
For perfumers and fragrance houses, the timing matters. Sandalwood remains one of the sector’s most prized—and pressured—raw materials. FP Aromatics says UEBT membership reinforces its long-standing approach to sandalwood stewardship, spanning the entire value chain from tree cultivation to oil production. The company works directly with local communities and long-term partners to protect biodiversity, support equitable livelihoods and safeguard the future supply of this slow-growing resource.
“It reinforces our commitment to transparent, ethical, and responsible sourcing—particularly in sandalwood, where long-term stewardship of ecosystems and fair partnerships with communities are critical to the future of the resource,” said Rithika Gupta, Director & CEO of FP Aromatics.
UEBT membership is increasingly viewed as a credibility marker in fragrance and beauty, as brands face rising scrutiny over naturals, traceability and biodiversity impact. For FP Aromatics, the step formalizes values the company says have guided it for three generations: responsibility, integrity and respect for nature.
