Firmenich, Inc., Givaudan, Inc., IFF, Inc. and Symrise, Inc. which united in March 2021 to launch the Fragrance Science & Advocacy Council (FSAC), touched its 100-day milestone in June 2021.
During the first 100 days, the FSAC board officers met with members of some trade organizations to introduce FSAC and extend invitations to collaborate.
The new trade association is dedicated to the strategic development of responsible, science-based public policy in response to the fast-evolving legislative and regulatory landscape in North America. FSAC members comprise more than 70% of the fragrance market in North America and are key companies in the global fragrance market.
Collaboration with regional trade associations is essential for aligning on appropriate regulatory topics that target the fragrance industry altogether. Within FSAC, three committees have been formed, the Scientific Affairs Committee, the Government Relations Committee and the Communications Committee.
Chairpersons and vice-chairs have been selected for each committee. Charters were created and priorities were defined and finalized for each committee in May 2021. Formation of these committees ties in with the organization’s vision to provide an organizational framework for fragrance innovators and suppliers to discuss and develop strategic approaches in three focus areas: federal and state legislative and regulatory activity, science advocacy and communications.
Additionally, the association is proud to announce that on September 8, 2021, FSAC became a National Member Association of the International Fragrance Association (IFRA). The Fragrance Science & Advocacy Council supports the IFRA Code of Practice and will require all relevant members to comply with IFRA Ingredient Standards.
