Amid a recovering Iraqi economic marketplace, Symrise AG hosted an exhibition at the fifth Erbil International Fair, featuring flavors for beverages and sweets that are especially popular in the fast-growing region.
"The Iraqi economy is growing fast and its food and beverage market follows suit. For this reason, we want to expand our presence in one of the biggest markets in the region," said Tamer Abwini, managing director of Symrise Middle East.
The exhibition, held Oct. 15–18 at the Erbil International Fairground in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, showed that there are two main regions when it comes to taste preferences in Iraq: North and South. Common to both of them is the fondness of beverages and sweets. Knowing about this, Symrise prepared a selection of carbonated and non-carbonated soft drinks as well as a variety of confectionery and chewing gums.
"With flavors tailored to the preferences of the local consumers, we are sure to encounter interesting projects with new customers. For them, we would like to become the preferred supplier of the food and beverage industry that knows the consumers as well as they do," Abwini added.
