Turkish Rose Oil

Nowadays, the production of rose oil and rose water is confined almost solely to the Isparta and Burdur provinces of Turkey. Hence, rose oil has been produced in Turkey for over a century. Initial production by cottage industry was largely replaced by modern industrial techniques, with the establishment of the first large distillery in Isparta in 1934.

South African Essential Oils

On investigating the normal origins of most of the essential oils, it is quite clear that the northern hemisphere countries (with few exceptions) have enjoyed the “cherry on the cake” for a very long time. A few examples are listed in Table I. It can therefore be understood why South Africa viewed the essential oil industry with much trepidation, but fortunately there are still pioneers in South Africa that make things happen and things have indeed happened.

Commercial clary sage oils were analyzed along with a newly available Kashmir oil (Himalayan Foothills Oils, Srinagar, India).
