LUZI Announces Promotion of Four Perfumers to Principal Perfumer

Swiss perfume house LUZI announced the promotion of five of its perfumers to the title of principal perfumer: Maurus Bachmann, Marc Daniel Heimgartner, Urs Castelletti and Markus Marty, and the hire of Irina Burlakova. 

Maurus Bachmann joined LUZI in 1992 and has collaborated with several brands and artists in his career. He helped create Thomas de Monaco Perfumes’ Extraits Uniques collection, which was listed among the top fragrances by ÇaFleureBon.

Marc Daniel Heimgartner began as a perfumer trainee at LUZI in 1996. The company notes his “breakthrough” moment as the 2004 launch of Excellent Man and Excellent Woman for Al Haramain, a brand based in the United Arab Emirates.

Urs Castelletti has worked at LUZI for 36 years, and his career began in the laboratory working with textures and formulas. His scent creations include Red Colorado from Parfums M.Micallef and Bakhoor Salala from Al Rehab Perfumes Factory. 

Markus Marty has spent 48 careers with the fragrance house. The company refers to his as the “master of botanicals.” He has extensive knowledge of natural ingredients and how they can apply to the industry. 

In addition, LUZI announced the hire of Irina Burlakova to its creative perfumery team as a principal perfumer. She attended Givaudan’s perfumery school and has worked on fragrance teams in New York, Paris and Hong Kong. She was awarded the FiFi Award from The Fragrance Foundation in 2015 for Banana Republic’s Modern Man.
