Fire Reported at Sensient Production Facility

According to an article on by Sharon Roznick, there was a fire at a Sensient Flavors production location in Juneau, Wisconsin, on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012. The article also reported that the fire was contained to the mechanical room at the facility and that one employee was transported to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The facility’s water and oil runoff was contained by the plant’s internal wastewater management system, and the article attributed comments saying there were no hazardous materials involved in the fire to Juneau Fire Chief Curt Ninmann. Additionally, the article mentions that the commented on oil is “Paratherm, a food-grade, mineral-based transfer fluid,” and a press release from the Dodge County Emergency Management office noted that any remaining runoff from the firefighting efforts was being controlled by the county’s HAZMAT team.
