ICMAD Responds to Toxic Fragrance Chemicals Report

The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors (ICMAD) organization released a statement pertaining to a recently published Breast Cancer Prevention Partners report, titled “Right to Know: Exposing Toxic Fragrance Chemicals Report."

In the statement, the organization and its members reaffirmed its commitment to the industry’s history of creating safe products for consumers. The statement noted that ICMAD and the Fragrance Creators Association have both worked to provide accurate, scientific and reliable information about everyday fragranced products.

The statement also highlighted how the fragrance industry works to ensure product safety through working with governmental agencies like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Additionally, the statement discussed the work of RIFM and how it helps formulate the International Fragrance Association’s (IFRA’s) safety standards for materials
