Paddywax revealed a Frederick Douglass-themed candle ahead of February's Black History Month.

The candle, based on the American abolitionist, orator, and writer seeks to channel Douglass by way of evoking scents like palo santo, sage, and saffron.

The candle contains top notes of pink peppercorn, bergamot, clove bud, and saffron with middle notes of black leather, gingerlily, cedar leaf, and elemis resin. It finishes out with base notes of dark oak, agarwood, guaiac, burlwood and cade.

It comes in a glass jar with a quote from Douglass: "I would unite with anybody to do right and with nobody to do wrong." It also comes with external packaging featuring Douglass's likeness and Paddywax Library Scented Candle Collection labeling.

This is the fifteenth addition to Paddywax's Library Scented Candle Collection. The words of literary greats like Charlotte Bronte, William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and Jane Austen have been immortalized in candle form with this special initiative from Paddywax, with each offering a unique interpretation of the author the candle was based on.
