1. Scents & Flavors Launches Online Database of Materials for Flavor, Perfume Industries
On February 26, 2025, BeWiDo launched ScentsAndFlavors, an online database of materials for the flavor and fragrance industry. The database currently has over 46,500 entries with detailed information about each ingredient.
2. IFF Unveils Citrus Innovation Center in Florida
On April 9, 2025, IFF announced the opening of the Citrus Innovation Center, located in Lakeland, Fla., in partnership with Florida Polytechnic University. The new center is a 30,000 square-foot facility that includes state-of-the-art capabilities in botanical research and a 360-degree digital immersion room. The center will also leverage LMR Naturals by IFF’s expertise in natural ingredients, processing, analytics and product creation.
3. MANE Opens Liquid Flavors Facility in Ohio
On April 10, 2025, flavor and fragrance supplier MANE opened its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Woodlawn, Ohio. The facility is an expansion of the company’s existing Woodlawn campus and will increase the manufacturing capability of the company’s liquid flavors. According to the company’s press release, the investment in the new facility exceeded $100 million and will support MANE’s growth plans for the next 20 years. The plant is 100,000 square-feet and offers up to 15,000 metric tons of production capability.
4. MycoTechnology Receives FEMA GRAS Status for Natural Flavor Modifier
Ingredient manufacturer MycoTechnology announced that its ClearHT natural flavor has received Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) status from the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association (FEMA). The ClearHT natural flavor can be used as a flavor with modifying properties (FMP) in food and beverage categories. ClearHT comes from honey truffle and offers new ways to modulate sweetness. At low inclusion levels, the company states that the ingredient enhances flavors such as citrus and caramel.
5. Flavor Reports: EU Edition (April 25)
In this month’s column, our European panel evaluated ingredients from Bedoukian Research, a company founded by Dr Paul Bedoukian in 1972 based in Connecticut. Bedoukian Research is recognized as a leading supplier of innovative, high-quality specialty aroma and flavor ingredients.
